hitting the books

Stephen has turned into such a little swot! I am so proud of him and would never have believed this a few years ago:)

all i want for christmas is my two front teeth

Kennedi and Trevyn came with Nikki, Kenny, and Kristen for dinner yesterday. Stephen and Carson were also here.

trying again to get it right

Well I've had fun blogging ha-ha. Managed to get into all the html stuff and completely mess things up. I think I need blogging for dummies or something, so I've had to redo the blog to see if I can fix my mess. In the meantime here is a picture of my five beautiful children.

senator edward kennedy & wild fire

Spent most of Saturday watching Senator Kennedy's funeral. I have to say I was fascinated by the ritual of the Catholic Mass for a funeral. It is so completey different from any LDS funeral I have been to. One thing is everybody is dressed in black and it is so not that way with the LDS Church. Anyway it was interesting and I was moved at times, especially listening to his son talk about his dad, and what his dad did for him when he had cancer. I did not, do not agree with his politics, but I came to realize he was a very thoughtful man and tried to redeem himself from his imperfections, especially Chappaquiddick. I for one being far from perfect need to refrain from passing judgement. There is a wild fire which is really bad about 40 miles north in New Harmony. It's already burned down 3 houses. I woke up and it smelled like smoke It was spooky, just as I was writing this post yesterday, the phone rang with an automatic message from the 911 operator saying they were giving 1 hour notifications of evacuations in the Bumble Bee area and some other area I didn't recognize - somewhere near Kanaraville. They must have called all of Iron County. There is absolutey no humidity in the air. We need to pray for some relief. The wind came up which did not help things at all.

oquirrh temple dedication

So a week ago last Sunday was a very special day when the Oquirrh Mountain Temple was dedicated. Church was cancelled in Utah for the dedication which we watched via satellite at the Stake Center. I went to the morning session but Rex attended both morning and afternoon sessions because of his priesthood assignment. The Spirit was so strong - I wish could always feel that way. I loved the talk by Elder Betnar and by President Uchtdorf. I was inspired and of course the Choir sang before the service started and pictures of the inside of the temple were shown.
This picture shows the Draper Temple in the background. Utah now has 13 operating temples - what a blessing!

celestial room in the oquirrh mountain temple

Simply awe inspiring!

murals in the temple

When I saw this beautiful mural in the endowment room, I thought I was sitting in the middle of the mountains. It really is gorgeous!

work tomorrow :(

Have to go back to work tomorrow and I'm already dreading it. I have had over a month off while Bob & Jill came over from England for a holiday. It was really fun to have them but the time sped by so quickly!

Another view of Richard & Heidi's house.

heidi & richard's house

Carson and I went to St. George last week and spent most of the day with Nikki. We had lunch together, and it was fun because Heidi and Kenny left work and joined us at Applebee's, and Kristen ran over from her work next door just to say hi. We took Carson to see Richard and Heidi's new house. She really has a gift for decorating - Jill & Bob even said they would like her to do their house if they ever come over to live. Anyway got to see little Kennedi and Trevyn. They always put a smile on my face:)
