kristen & dave

It was a special day a week ago last Saturday when Kristen got married to Dave in the St. George Temple. In fact, it was a perfect day - a little glance of heaven.

hopefully the snow is gone for awhile!

Gosh, it's been a long time since I blogged - before Christmas in fact.  Seeing Carson's(my daughter-in-law's) blog inspired me to start again.  It is so cute and so Carson.  I have been on Facebook a little bit. It's been so good to hook with some of my cousins and aunts and uncles.  Growing up in England and living with my maternal grandparents and across the street from my paternal grandparents, meant I got to see them all a lot - both sides of the family. Families are what it is all about and are something to be treasured.

Christmas is coming

So I know I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but Christmas is my very favorite time of the year, hence the Christmas music, but it seems to come and go so quickly. I was born in December, baptized in December, married in December and had a baby in December. The ultimate reason though is because of why we celebrate Christmas and of course that is because we remember and celebrate the birth of our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ. Jesus is the reason for the season. He is my Savior and I cannot comprehend what he has done for me,but I know he died on the cross for me and for all of us.

to my new little blogging friend

Wow - I have the smartest grandchildren and you know who you are. You all simply amaze me and I love you so much!

halloween is coming

Rex grew about 18 pumpkins in his pumpkin patch and divided them up between the grandchildren to carve for Halloween. Trevyn with the help of his mom carved the one below about 11 pm at night when he wasn't feeling very good.  He did a good job.

pumpkins galore

lots of pumpkins to take home

winter has come!

We woke up to a snow blizzard this morning - it was really coming down and I had to drive 20 miles to work. Fortunately Rex had a workshop in Cedar so he was able to drive me to and from work. I am not ready for this yet! As you can see from the pictures taken from my front and back door, it is a really gray day.

anna's new baby emma, will be here soon

My niece Anna is about to have her baby girl in the next two weeks and her name is going to be Emma Anna Fournier, which is a really pretty name. This little will be born in the U.S. to her French father and her English mother - quite a combination. This is the blanket I made for baby Emma.

primary sunday in st. george

Last Sunday we had the opportunity to go to see Trevyn and Kennedi in their Primary Program. It was a special experience to see them participate. I love the Primary programs - they always, always put a smile on my face, bring tears to my eyes, and me grateful for these little children. Trevyn looked so smart in his 'Sunday best.' He was kind of shy when it was his turn to say his part, so Heidi who is his sunbeam teacher said it for him. Kennedi looked beautiful of course and did a really good job of saying her part. The focus was on families, and it makes me feel good to know that families can be together forever!

way to go kristen!

The 2009 St. George Marathon has come and gone and I have to say it was really a great day, especially for Kristen. She had not trained as well as she could of and was worried that she wouldn't finish the race. Well not only did she finish the race, but she knocked off 23 minutes from her time last year. Her official time was 3:49:35.  It was kind of funny, because we were all kind of shocked that she passed us in the stands when she did.   Theresa and Carson missed it, trying to find a place to park, and by the time they got to where the finish line was, she had already crossed it. Kennedi was very emotional for two reasons - first of all Kristen had her ipod in and didn't even look our way when we were yelling and cheering her on, so she didn't see the sign Kennedi had made. Secondly, Nikki lifted the sign up shaking it, and completely blocked Kennedi's view of  Kristen. Kristen spent most of the time after the race trying to make it up to Kennedi. We all - well most of us went to Applebee's to celebrate. All that running left us quite hungry:)

WE ARE SO PROUD OF HER!

primary sunday in saratoga springs

We went to see our little Bohman grandchildren participate in the Primary program yesterday. It was a flying trip, we left after the General Women's Conference on Saturday night which meant leaving at 8:00 am and we got to Theresa's around 11:30 pm.  We were back home at 8:30 pm yesterday, but it was worth it. I love to see the children sing and speak, and I have to say watching a Primary program in Utah County is a whole different experience.  They split the wards on a regular basis, every year since Theresa has been living there, but there were still over a hundred children of primary age.  They have had as many as six nurseries, but only three now in this ward. Kayden had a speaking part where he basically bore his testimony and said he was grateful his family could be together forever. It really touched me! Makenna's teacher who is the Sunbeam teacher gave a talk and told of what she had learned from each member of her class; from Makenna she said she had learned how to be a peacemaker.  The music was beautiful and I loved it. We also did some quick shopping Saturday night - the minute I got there, Theresa and I went to Wal-Mart. She is the best shopping buddy!

sister charlie king

The Proud Momma

Sister King with Sibby in front of the MTC

Sister Charlie King
Just received some pictures of my niece Charlie at the Preston MTC in England.  Charlie is serving her mission in the London South Mission; the same mission as her sister Naomi.  Not only does she look beautiful, but she looks radiant too.  I know she will be a great missionary!

my little princess makenna

Little Princess Makenna called me today to let me know that her mom had painted her fingernails and toenails purple and how cute they looked.  I was telling her how much I loved her when she broke forth into song like she is want to do. It was of course - I Love to See the Temple. The first time she ever sang it was when she woke us up one morning whilst we were at her house and she had a little picture of the temple in her hand and then she started to sing.  Of course it brought tears to my eyes because for some reason these cute little grandchildren of ours just have a pathway straight to my heart!

st. george marathon

I am looking forward to seeing Kristen run in the St. George Marathon for the third year in a row, although she said she hasn't really trained for it like she has in the past - so hopefully things will go okay. It is on the Saturday, October 3rd - she obviously did not inherit my genes! This is a picture of Kristen with her friend Ashlie Murray.

pork and green chile casserole

This is a really nummy recipe that Carson
made for us the other night, although this
time I made it with ground chicken.

Ingredients
1 1/2 1bs ground pork cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 Tbs olive oil
1 15 oz can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 14 1/2 oz can diced tomatoes
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 4 1/2 oz cans chopped green chiles
1 cup quick cooking brown rice
1/4 cup water
3 Tbs salsa
1/2 cup shredded cheese

Directions
Brown pork in hot oil.  Drain off fat and return to
pan.  Add all ingredients except cheese and mix
well. Bring mixture to boil and pour into 2 quart
casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Sprinkle with cheese and wait 5 minutes before
serving.

catching fire - second book in the hunger games series

Well I have just finished 'catching fire,' and once again I had a hard time putting it down. There were lots of twists and turns to the very last page, and now I'm probably going to have to wait a year for the third book to come out.  This is what the bookcover says:
Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.
